New Dining Room Floor!
The Auxiliary of the Baptist Home of South Jersey (BHSJ) has supported BHSJ, dba Riverview Estates, since its establishment in 1953. Many fundraisers such as bake sales, monthly specials, June Fair, Peach Festival, Christmas Bazaar and others have been held to enhance the quality of life for the residents of Riverview Estates. The most recent gift is the purchase of a brand new dining room floor. The new floor provides an enhanced dining experience as well as a sleek updated look. Riverview Estates would like to sincerely thank the members of the Auxiliary of the BHSJ for their continued support throughout the years. The new floor looks great.
Congratulations!
"My father, Albert Longo, was recently discharged from a four week stay at Riverview Estates’ skilled nursing facility. Our experience with Riverview was a good one from admission to discharge. The employees foster a family-like environment so that residents feel welcomed and cared for while away from home. My father was always treated with dignity and respect. Both his personal and medical needs were well tended to during his stay. Their first rate rehabilitation team worked daily with him, a bilateral amputee who suffered a fractured hip, until he was up and walking again."
Additionally, Riverview’s dining services prepares well balanced, hot meals daily. There is always plenty of good food available for the residents to enjoy. Riverview also offers many social and individual activities for their resident’s pleasure and entertainment as well as provide various types of Religious worship. Upon my father’s discharge, the social worker ensured that all necessary out-patient needs were in place for his continued care at home.
"The staff at Riverview Estates really does care for the entire individual!"

Congratulations to Albert Longo whom we are pleased to call a “Ray of Sunshine”. Albert came to Riverview Estates for our rehabilitation program. His daughter, Donna Scoleri wrote the following about her father’s stay:
In just 40 days Virginia Hill, an 84 years old post-polio resident recovered from a hip fracture which required a total hip replacement! According to Maria Knight, physical therapist, "the average rehabilitation time for a hip replacement patient is 70-100 days". Maria attributes Virginia's rapid recovery to her strong faith and supportive family
Virginia says, "I am what I am because I was able to come home to have therapy, Praise the Lord! A large group of residents and employees, whom I call my family, met me at the door when I came back from the hospital and welcomed me home. Even though I was temporarily in a rehabilitation area I was surrounded by familiar faces and cared
for by staff who knew me. I am so grateful I did not have to go to an unfamiliar Nursing Home
for rehabilitation."
Virginia had been donating to the Homecoming Campaign Rehabilitation Project by crocheting articles, selling them and giving the profit to the campaign so that Riverview Estates could accomplish their goal of having their own rehabilitation department. Never did she think that she would be one of the first residents to benefit from having rehabilitation in the place that she considers her home.
As Virginia rounded the corner, walking back to her Assisted Living room with many of her belongings draped over her walker she gave a big smile and threw a kiss to the many residents greeting her. She gave Maria, her therapist a hug as Maria thanked Virginia for being such a positive influence on all the therapy residents as she encouraged them to keep working hard.
